Come celebrate the end of Commute Solutions Month, listen to music, eat, get in on raffles, and have fun. Most of you may be familiar with CAMPO (Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization) as the entity in charge of building most our highways, but they also have staff and programs dedicated to getting people out of their cars and onto bikes, buses, and eventually, some day Metrorail. Part of this program is the annual Commuter Challenge where you sign up and log your alternative commuting miles for a chance to win prizes like iPods, solar panel backpacks and mini-laptops. The Challenge is running September 7-19 and you can sign up anytime to be part of the challenge.

There is no better way to spend a Saturday than strolling through the aisles of fresh produce while grubbing on a homemade empanada and listening to a local artist play the fiddle or the recorder or the sax. This weekend, they will feature Julia and Julia inspired chef demos, giveaways to include 100 movie passes and more, and free tastings. See you there at 8 before you go volunteer at Zilker.

Austin, Tx,
Coldtowne is beginning a new show featuring the Boy Toy troup,. Not only is the show free, but the theater will provide free beer during every Saturday show in September.
Cortnie Jones of Coldtowne has provided us with some additional info on the troup and the events:
One goal of improvisational comedy besides getting laughs is creating a unified, thematic “work” (of art if you like) based on an audience suggestion. No improv format does that better than “The Harold” –a classic format akin to the 12-bar blues in music. Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City all champion the Harold. Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Murray, Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters and Eddie Izzard all know the Harold. While Austin’s improv comedy scene is growing by leaps-and-bounds, the Harold hasn’t seen much action. Enter Boy Toy, Austin’s premiere Harold troupe. Made-up of instructors and graduates of ColdTowne Theater, Boy Toy strives for the work-of-comedy for which the Harold was built: a self-contained, long-form, hilarious improvised comedy play in every performance. Catch Boy Toy every single Saturday of the year at ColdTowne Theater (7pm). No two shows alike, guaranteed. For the month of September, ColdTowne Theater is providing FREE BEER for all of Boy Toy’s shows. Yes.

Formed in late-2008 when a stray bolt of sex-lightning struck Austin’s ColdTowne Theater, improv comedy troupe Boy Toy includes some of the funniest and most-innovative improvisers in the country. Among this dazzling troupe of funnykins are ColdTowne Conservatory teachers and graduates, an Air Sex World Champion, a World of Warcraft guru, a zip-line tour guide, the manager of a Starbucks, and “Dirty Baby,” leader of Austin’s only ukulele rock-and-roll band. Boy Toy performs “The Harold,” the grandpappy of improv formats that intertwines organic games, scenes, and relationships into one big ball of sexy you’ll want to take home with you … but not to your mother. Boy Toy performs every Saturday in September at ColdTowne Theater (4803 Airport Blvd, next to I Luv Video), at 7:00pm. For the month of September, Coldtowne Theater is providing FREE BEER for all of Boy Toy’s shows. Yes.
